Just got this from JoeB...

Congrats, everyone, on another terrific milestone for Media Center…   today in his Digital Life keynote, Mike Sievert will announce that Media Center has sold 20 MILLION UNITS.

Wow. Just wow. It's pretty nifty to work on a product which has reached 20 million folks worldwide. Sweet.

20 Million Sold? By Choice ? I Don't think so. OEMS bundling it on new PC's because its cheaper than XP Pro = THE REAL REASON !

How about working on sooooooo many features missing in MCE Vista for UK/Europe and Australia like MHEG support, DVB-S, DVB-C (Europe) and DAB just to name a few!

What about recording whats in the buffer if you press RECORD and program already started and in buffer ? What about simple tick box control for turning cross fade on or off ?

Before you all pat yourself on the back with complacency, keep a lookout for Mr Jobs launching a surprise revolution or Media Portal WHICH IS FREE having the last laugh. And then Microsoft will have to reinvent and waste lots of money beign second and trying to get to No 1 again (eg Internet Explorer, IPod, ITunes. The Xbox is launched now, theres more hard work to do !!!!!

I don't like the tone of mr. angry poster above. But, I do agree that the media center team should be hard at work on putting some meaningful features into the next version.

Lots of money wasted. :(

That's great!!!!! No features, but pay for my software if you plan to buy a computer!!!
What a shame.
At least IBM don't want Windows Vista!! Someone clever
That's a good idea!! :)

I must agree with Fred. 20 million sold is a great thing to say but how many are being used? Lets release some stats on that before we all go jumping on the "we have done so well" horse! As he said, for a very long while, it was not possible to buy a pc without MCE on it. So well done the MS marketing and OEM departments!

Just wondering if the number of units sold for Windows XP Home has decreased by the same amount??
