Windows Media Center RSS 2.0

I just got finished upgrading the build of Windows Vista on my tablet (was running the February CTP, now running a much newer version). The M200 only has 32MB of video memory with an nVidia Mobile 5200 video card but it's showing Aero Glass. Sweet -- I didn't think this was supposed to work on older, less powerful video cards. Let's hope this isn't an anomaly. :-)

[5 minutes pass...]

It installed *all* the drivers except one this time (I think it's the IR it can't find) -- I think we are turning a corner with Windows Vista. I've had a bear of a time getting the tablet to be happy with Windows Vista, and typically ran into mucho problems right off the bat. Everything seems perfectly normal.

[5 minutes pass...]

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate and am now using Windows Media Center with the Tablet PC pen.

Oh, this is SOOOOOOO cool...!

Excellent! I assume this build is newer than 5342. On that build I can get glass working at 800x600 only. Vista is definitely improving with each build released to testers.

Is it possible that my nVidia Geforce4 440 Go (32-MB) might be in luck?

So what was Pringle's problem with the M400? I'm just about to buy one of those I'm already running Vista on three other systems and of course want to see it on a TabletPC asap.

I presume we are talking the vista 5342 release here. Dosnt install any more drivers that the Feb CTP release did on my M200, so from the comment .....

That’s interesting as in NVIDIA's latest conference call which was posted at Beyond3D some NV rep mentioned that the GeForce 6/7 and greater series were only going to be supported under Vista with VDDM drivers (which from what I understand are needed to enable Areo Glass of course along with a DX9 SM2.0 GPU).

While the GeForce FX series was a totally crap GPU when it came to DX9 games back in the day (which is why NVIDIA likes to erase all memories of that one) it should be perfectly fine for Vista as long as you guys at MS or NVIDIA provide the VDDM driver.

Superb!!! Can't wait to see Aero Glass and Vista in action on my M200 Tablet. The GeForce FX5200 is basically a DirectX 9.0 card, so I guess that's why it runs Aero...

All I need now is an external DVD drive so I can install! :D

By the way, does Aero Glass cause the M200's irritating graphics card fan to run all the time it is on??

Cheers.

I also succeed in installing Vista RTM on my M200. It is running Aero but not Aero Glass. The difference is that the 3D task bar etc doesn't work. But DVD maker and Windows Movie Maker is working which is what I needed.
